See what an ATS reads in your resume

Applicant tracking systems don't see your layout — they see the text inside the file. Drop in your PDF to see that text and find out what gets lost on the way.

Your file is read in your browser. It is never uploaded.

How it works

1. Drop in your PDF

The file is opened in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no signup.

2. See the parser's view

Your page on one side, the plain text a machine gets out of it on the other.

3. Fix what gets lost

A checklist shows where the two differ — and what to change.

What the test checks

Ten things that decide whether software can read your resume — all checked by rules, not by AI.

Readable text

Whether the file contains real text or is only a picture of your resume.

What comes first

Whether the text starts with your name or with something else, such as a sidebar.

Letter-spaced text

Whether widely spaced headings fall apart into single letters.

Standard sections

Whether the usual headings are there for a parser to sort your content by.

Contact details

Whether your e-mail address and phone number can be read as text.

Links

Whether your LinkedIn and other addresses are written out or hidden behind a word.

Layout

Whether the page has columns that some parsers mix together.

Fonts

Whether the fonts are embedded as text or as drawings a parser cannot read reliably.

Icons and symbols

Whether icons end up in the text as stray characters.

Length and size

Page count and file size.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free? Is my resume uploaded?

Yes, it is free and unlimited. Your PDF is opened by your own browser and never sent to our servers, so there is nothing for us to store.

Which ATS does this simulate?

None in particular — there is no single "the ATS". Workday, Greenhouse, SAP SuccessFactors and the others each parse a little differently. This test shows what standard text extraction gets out of your file and flags the problems most parsers share. That is why you get a checklist rather than a score.

Why PDF only?

PDF is where things go wrong: text can be missing, in the wrong order or embedded as drawings without it showing on the page. A Word file stores its text plainly.

The test found problems. What now?

Most come from the layout, not from what you wrote. The quickest fix is to import the resume into resume.coffee and export it with a template that parsers read cleanly.

How is this different from the ATS Resume Checker?

This test looks at the file: can software read it? The ATS Resume Checker looks at the content: it scores your resume from 0 to 100 and suggests rewrites with AI. Use both.

Start from a template built for parsers

Clean reading order, headings that stay whole, real fonts and written-out links.
